Theres a commercial that has been running for a flashlight that uses theses bright LED bulbs and they dont burn out. I thought they would be good for home use. But I havent seen them in the store. Can I get them for my home?

You can look at www.ledtronics.com for some ideas of what's currently available.

I have built up a few custom made "lamps" using descrete components and LEDs available from various electronics suppliers, but that's something I have significant experience with...your best bet is to check with local lighting suppliers and electrical supply houses. There are a few lamps on the market currently. The cost is high as production levels are low to date.
Watch for better availability soon...it took awhile for Compact Fluorescents to become commonly available at reasonable prices. LED's will follow.
Good luck!

Doug

I too am interested in LED's for a different reason. I am looking into them for interior lighting in RV's because of the low amperage and low drain on batteries. Let me know if anyone has seen them used in this manner.

I found some cool LED lights in the boaters world site and ordered them. They have only 5 LEDs. I installed two in the bedroom of the camper and one over the sink. I like the lights because they give a white light, but two did not light the bedroom very well. The one over the sink is perfect. I'm going to keep looking in boating suppliers and big truck suppliers. Currently the back up lights on big trucks should give sufficient light, but I would need to construct a mounting thing for it plus add a switch.
