I run a company that provides the basics of estimating, managing jobs and getting paid. However, our approach uses philosophies from LinkedIn, FaceBook, Ning and other applications that are focused on the sharing of information. My question is "do you believe the industry as a whole is ready for these advancements or am I possibly a little ahead of our time?" I believe the popularity of places such as this forum are proving the industry is going through a change. Your thoughts? Thanks, Brian

Brian,
I am also interested but I think that the public that would like some of this hasn't got the wherewithall to afford it right now.
I have a customer that has an older home with all plaster walls and what seems like yards and yards of wire mesh holding that plaster up. He tried to go wireless and couldn't because of all that mesh and reading through Bob Gatton's blog on Z-Wave which is what this customer wants he will never be able to afford as all of that plaster and mesh would have to be removed first or you have to run wire and that shoots down all of the wireless product or does somebody else have a solution.

Hello 1dustychuck,
There are two different responses. The first applies to price and I prefer not getting into that in this forum since it is easier to just go to my site and you will see a FREE as well as INEXPENSIVE upgrade alternative. My second response has more to do with me not understanding exactly what you are referencing when it comes to your customer. Keep in mind that I focus on a generic business environment, not the specifics of what calculates an estimate. I appologize if there is a confusion.

Hello 1dustychuck,
One of my customers so this post and asked for me to also indicate that MyOnlineToolbox does allow you to create templates for future use so that repetitive tasks are easily copied into future estimates and work orders and all that has to be changed is the details and prices, etc. We just do not specifically help you in what you should charge since there are just too many variables.
