Is this heating system efficient for the Northeast? We have some really cold days here in Maine and would like to install this system not only in the basement floor of our new home but in the garage and first floor as well. We will have mainly tile and hardwood flooring with some carpet. I have heard conflicting stories about it's efficiency in the cold weather states.
Thanks
P.S. I always enjoy all the videos.

Radiant floor heat is fairly efficient but to change the tempature is not an instant thing-takes about 24 hrs to stabilize. Here in Alaska many new homes have it, as well as, some remodels. Also, the flooring you put over it needs a warranty. We do not have the same 'cold' as you have in New England-our cold is very dry.

radiant heat is great. We have it in our shop and home. The most efficient part of our system is a new air to water heat pump built by Waters Hot Inc of Orange city Iowa. It heats our domestic water and our home and shop. It has a COP that is better than ground source heat pumps and there is no need to bury piping or drill geothermal wells, It just hangs on the house. It works like a refrigerator only it takes heat from the outdoors and puts it into water. That water is then pumped thru the floor.

Don't know if I'm too late about insalling your rad. heat flooring? I would think hard about the cost. It may look like a $ saver, but remember it has to run your furnace etc a long time to get up to the right temp.I have several people who have instaled this and now they wish they had rethought it do to oil cost etc

The secret with radiant heat is to maintain a constant temperature day and night. Also, with radiant heat, people are comfortable at several degrees lower temperature than with other types of heating. Used properly, there should be no cost penalties for radiant heating.
