My house is 3 months old. I had the contractor install gutters. This is the first hard rain we have had so far. The gutters are all overflowing in the middle and seem to be leaking so that water falls in large amounts onto my bedroom window. There is one downspout joint which has water flowing out the joint as well as out the bottom. Were these gutters installed correctly and/or should larger gutters have been installed.I am too old (75)to climb ladders or I certainly would to check them out myself .

Depends on roof sizes and slopes...no way to tell without the information needed to design gutters...and YES, gutters and downspouts need to be designed just like anything else.

I'd ask what your architect had to say, but I know better...

Have someone check for debris clogging the downspout, and in the gutter itself.
