Very Confused!?!?! Let me first start here my master bath is behind my laundry room. When I do laundry and my washer goes to empty its tub on the first rinse cycle the water in my toilet also goes down does a lot of gurgling and I can hear the same noise comming from my shower drain! What do I do!?!?
I don't rember it doning it when we first moved in 7 1/2 years ago. I guess it be about a year or so that its been doing this. The house was built in 89' it a moduler with full basement. Vent pipe are those the pipes with the cap that has a hole in it?
Vent pipes come out of your roof, and can be anywhere from 2-4 inches in diameter. Imagine tipping a plastic bottle upside down and pouring water out, then you poke a hole through the bottom of the bottle and all of a sudden the water flows out a lot easier? Well that is the purpose of vent piping for your sewer. If this is blocked then the piping is starved for air which in turns slows down your septic and creates a vaccum like effect in your waste piping. The first step would be to go on the roof to make sure a bird hasn't made a nest in your vent pipe and make sure there are no obstructions in it. I don't know how handy you are but you can also try to snake it too to see if there are obstructions. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then call a plumber.

Thanks Richard and Jay for your help I have a few of those pipes trough out my house under the sinks. I'll check those but I might find someone to climb on my roof for me! Thanks again CJ
