I recently installed a ceiling fan (Hunter) without an included remote. I want to be able to control all 3 fan speeds as well as light control (dimming also) from the wall switch. I do NOT want a wireless remote. I have shopped Home Depot and Lowes and there are not many options. The one hardwired switch I found required an additional wire (4 total) to be present in the wall outlet box that is not there in my case (I have 3-hot, neutral and ground). Does anyone have any suggestions to solve my dilemma? Thanks.

You're really stuck when you use a wall switch. Your only three otions are 1) Use the chains, 2) Wireless remote, or 3) A dedicated receiver in the canopy and the accompanying wall switch like the Casablanca fans have. A good lighting store can sell you the kit. This will run a little more than the wireless remote, but it will work for the Hunter fans too.

Thanks. I never thought about a dedicated lighting store. I'll try that route. Thanks again.

Actually, most Home Centers offer remote kits with a hard-wired wall remote instead of a handheld wireless. Lighting stores will sell them as well. They wire in like a regular remote kit at the fan, and like a regular wall switch at the switch.

More information about ceiling fan controls is here:

Yup. That's exactly the route I ended up taking. It works great. Thanks for your help.
