Okay here is the dealio, I am moving into a 40 y/o mobile home. (dont even ask)Restoration is already underway. The problem I am having is hallway is an L shape, straight down and to the left. well the hallway light switch is located by the kitchen at the beginning of the hall. Once you go down the hall to the bedrooms you have yo go clear back down the hall to shut off the light. Not good when you are a chicken butt in the dark like me. There cannot be a new switch installed at that end. (I guess cannot is not a fair term, its more like would be one hella lotta work) so is there any kind of automatic light that is on the market besides the outdoor motion detector light? I dont want my hall looking like a science lab exit. I call upon the HGTV gods of knoweledge for help.

Good response buit I forgot a super importany fact...when I get up at night and I walk into the hall its way dark and that was reason two for something that would detect motion. I am sorry for not putting that in original post. Any ideas on what would work in this situation? I have looked for a sensor that could go on my hall light that would detect motion from either end and shut off or turn on with motion. Then i would not even have to use my switch. I cannot find anything.

Seriously, why will it be a big deal to wire another switch at the bedroom end of the hall? I've often found, in buildings and in life, that the "hard" way turns out to be the easy way, and the right way.
A motion sensor, I don't think, can turn on a light that's been switched off, but since electricity to me is witchcraft, I hope a real electrician arrives with an answer soon.

I'm sitting here thinking of what can be done but the only thing I'm coming up with is to replace your hall light with a remote controlled one. Just leave the remote in your bedroom and turn it on and off with that. Only works with the light switch in the "on" position but no biggie there.

Go to your nearest bigbox store Home Depot or Lowes and ask about a motion detecting light switch, they usually come with a light sensor so they don't turn on during the day. I put these in the kid's bathroom years ago because they couldn't reach the switch. Installing is fairly easy, just turn of the breaker off, pull the old switch out and replace it with the new one.
