The natural gas pipe outside my house is showing surface rust. The pipe is between the meter and the house at the exterior. Is there anything to be concerned about with this?

Not a real big concern. As the gas pipe is rather thick walled. You can however wire brush it clean and paint it with a green rust proof paint to make it look good again.
