My husband and I are cosidering buying an older house(wood)built in 1976 that has boiler(gas) heat. We will be doing renos to the house and wonder if we should keep or replace the heating system. What are the pro/con's of boiler heat? Can anyone speak from personal experience with boiler heat?

It depends on your preference. In an ideal situation, heat from a boiler (radiant tubing), and air conditioning through ductwork would be considered top notch. Of course, boilers also handle baseboards and radiators (although in 1976 my guess is you have baseboards)

For most of us that can't afford or don't want two systems, we have a dual purpose, hot air heater that also handles air conditioning. Where you live also makes the difference if you want/need air conditioning or not.

Boilers do a great job of providing heat without the drafts often associated with blown air heat.
