In the past 10 years of owning our home we have remodeled our upstairs. Stripped all our oak floors, put in new electrical added a sump pump, landscaped with four separate perennial gardens a concrete deck and $12,000 in windows. My husband and I have always dreamed of redoing our kitchen. But our dreams were crushed on Nov 19th. Our local hospital announced they are coming our way and they want to purchase within the next 5 years. So what would you do knowing it will all be gone in 5 years? Redo the kitchen or live with it?

Five years is a long way off. I would go for it. It will increase the overall value of the home for the sale anyway. You will not get all your money back on the investment. But for a few years you get to enjoy what you think will be your dream kitchen. Besides If they do not purchase it, then you lived five years with the old one. Also even if they purchase the kitchen like your other projects you did. You learned a lot about what you like and do not like. The same will go with the kitchen. This way in the new home of your dreams you will know more about what works for your lifesytle and what does not.
