I am considering a kitchen remodel with new cabinets. Home Depot and Lowe's carry the standard names. I have been told about Sunco cabinets. Anyone have experience with them as to quality, finish, installation?

Home depot and Lowes carry entry level cabients. Look for more solidly constructed cabinets that have solid wood/particle boards backs (not hanging rails!) and thick corner brace of wood/particle board (not a rail or plastic corner). Don't be swayed by color or style of the doors. Make sure you are looking at the construction. This may not be the fun part of choosing a cabinet but if you are going to stay more than a few years you don't want to have problems. Also, don't let them do the installation either. They sub out all of their jobs and you will run into problems.

I would look for a cabinet that has solid lumber face frames and doors/drawer fronts. Most low end cabinets use particle board with a veneer even for the doors and faces. Also try to find a cabinet with solid lumber drawer boxes or at least plywood. The drawers take the hardest beating in kitchen cabinets and are usually the first component to fail. Look for cabinets with glides on each side of the drawer, not a single center mounted glide. If possible (and if it fits your budget) I would look for a cabinet constructed from plywood, rather than particle board. They are tough to find, but a few companies still make them. If the cabinets you buy do not already have them, install a 3/4 thick solid lumber hanging rail in the top of the wall cabinets to run the installing screws through.Don't depend on running screws through the cabinet backs. Wall cabinets carry a lot of weight and you don't want the screws pulling through or pulling the backs loose from the rest of the cabinet. Lowes/Home Depot will sell you higher end cabinets, but do not stock them.

Sunco cabinets are 100% all wood, no particle board is used in the construction of the cabinets. Drawer slides have a 100# rating/capacity.I think they you can consider them.

I agree. What was said about low-end /entry level cabinets. I looked at the Home Depot cabinets. They all had melamine drawer bottoms. I was told by the 'Kitchen Design Team ' Wink Roll Eyes That is the Industry standard now.

In kitchen cabinets you get what you pay for Dovetail corners are stronger than glued and /or stapled.

You may as well go to IKEA and buy their Kitchen Cabinets. They will last a bit longer but you'll pay less for them.No disrespect meant to IKEA.

Home Depot lost me when they stopped hiring people that were retired in whatever field their department was. Nothing like a retired Craftsman to tell you how to do something well & properly.

If you have a Restaurant Wholesaler store ( not the name ) But a store that sells to diners / resteaunts and the like you'll find a lot of stainless steel items.

If you have ****** to spend and want the utmost in quality AND installation by proffesionals Try www.crownpointcabinetry.com

or possibly www.crownpointcabinets.com

That being said I've got a galley kitchen in a 1926 home that's 7-8 ft 'W & 11'L.

My quote for bulding; designing, and installation was $30,000.00. Eeker Roll Eyes They range from $30,000-$60,000 for the entire kitchen. Wink Smiler Big Grin Both links work.--MM.

Order their Free Catalogue...just to look. you'll drool all over it but unless you have a major kitchen renovation & an endless supply of DO-RE-MI don't even look at their website. It'll just make you cry.--MM.
