I have been told that Aristokraft cabinets are a quality cabinet for a reasonable price. I looked at their cabinet construction and their box sides are only 3/8" thick particle board. I can upgrade to 3/8" thick plywood. Every article I read advises on box side no thinner than 1/2". Any comments?

I am a kitchen designer & have sold Aristokraft cabinets. While they have a nice price point, the cabinet box is not very well made. I would recommend Wellborn, Kraftmaid, or American Woodmark. It isn't necessary to upgrade to a plywood box in a good cabinet line. To lessen cost, just add a wood veneer skin to exposed ends or only have the exposed sides made of plywood.

Actually, do you have any comments on Decora or Diamond?
