I am going to be selling my house in four years. I have to replace kitchen countertops and I want to know if granite is the way to go still. I don't want to do things that will be out in four years. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

My advice to you is not to do it yet.
Although granite will be still the product to use several years from now, What about the cabinets? Once granite is installed its very difficult to remove and replace later on. it tends to crack once its glued down.

Home selling trends change every year. What is in now, will be out next year. Colors change, so do fixtures. If home values continue to drop as they are in many areas, You may not realize any improved value when you sell. You will however be able to enjoy the new tops while your there.
I would contact a real-estate agent in your area that understands your market where you live and ask their advice on what to do. You may find you would be better off putting money into something else that will pay bigger dividends when you sell.
Hope this helps.
