Yes we were late with the kitchen but we made up for it by templating and installing the granite in 3 day. I have suggested 2 to 4 weeks is a normal lead time?
Our client would like to bill us $150 per day for eating out.
Our granite guy comes in as soon as the base cabinets are in. Three days at most and the stuff is down and final backspash tiles, paint and cleanup is done. Now with all the companies popping up doing granite, there are seldom delays as their not as busy as they once were.
Did your contract have a start and stop date in it? From what I understand most states require this clause in contracts of this type or you end up loosing if sued as its not an enforceable contract. It there anything in the contract that states if your over on substantial finish date there is a penalty?
And what do they eat? Sounds like a lot! And what did they expect that the job and kitchen would be done over night!
When we find that we have delays, often cabinet suppliers as they could care less about getting things delivered. We have a travel kitchen that we set up in a spare room or basement. Small electical stove, Sink with pump below and portable refrigerator if theirs is being replaced. It did not cost us much but saves the day when the owners kids are hungry.
