We are looking into remodeling our kitchen. We have existing 'black' stained oak cabinets (simple shaker style with veneer inserts - kinda cheap). Anyway, we'd like to add a double wall mount oven cabinet (96" tall) and a similar sized pantry to add a vertical dimension. In addition we plan to install a 6' x 3' island. Our thinking is to add brown to the black such that the 'new' cabinets would all be brown (including the entire island)....with Granite countertops (Giallo Ornamentale). Are we nuts?

I once designed a kitchen where every door and every drawer front was a different color, and I wasn't nuts.=)) Black and brown wouldn't be my first choice for a color scheme for a cheerful kitchen, but that's as much my own color prejudice as anything else. Actually, they do go quite well together. So, this is a long-winded way of saying "No, you're not nuts at all". Go for it.
