I guess I'm weird but I think that building slideout trash containers into kitchen cabinets is disgusting. Most of the time, your hands are dirty in the kitchen and these bins are stored behind beautiful and expensive wood doors. Hence, you need to touch these doors with your dirty hands to throw something away. Or if you leave the bin in the pulled-out position, it is in the way of traffic.
I prefer the traditional step on trash can so that I don't have to touch anything.
Having said that, we're redoing our kitchen and needless to say, my husband won and we are going with a slideout trashbin. I am wondering if anyone knows of a device or product where you can add a foot pedal to open up a cabinet-trash slideout? I would think this would be a good idea (based on reasons in paragraph #1). If anyone knows of this product, please advise. Thanks.
