I have old woodgrain look laminate kitchen cabinets. I cannot afford new wooden ones. Is there anyway to inexpensively update or change the look of these? Thank you!

A few methods can be used to make them look good again.
New hardware will change the look qiite quickly.
You can use surface trim on the face of the doors assuming they are flat panels. This would be sort of like a picture frame placed a few inches in around the edge of the door. Will give door a 3D look.
A good quality paint job also will make them look new again.
Of course you can purchase new doors. There are several companies that sell doors via the internet. Its typically more work to measure and fill out the forms then putting on the doors once they arrive. So that is another option.

Hi tis really works (I did 4 kitchens).
Clean greasy spots with damp cloth and dishsoap. Let it dry.
Tape off exposed hardware or remove doors-drawers alltogether. Buy quart of Bulls Eye 1-2-3 primer. Paint primer over the cabinets. Let dry. Paint over with a chosen paint color meant for trimand doors, floor, bathroom or kitchen.
If you are creative and want to invest some time, you can use regular flat latex paint (a lot cheapper) to use in crackle look, inset with a wallpaper on the middle or boarder, but have to cover this paint with verathane. Possibilities are sooo endles!
After you paint it, you can use stencils and drywall compound over it. Let it dry and repeat as many coats as you want (3-5) drying in between. Finish with a glaze wash...It looks great! It wears great! and no one else will have these same cupbords ! The most expensive item would be verathane. If uou don't want to use it, just paint over with a glaze.
Hit a library and check some books :-)
P.S. Don't have to send the cabinets, laminate or otherwise. This primer sticks to slick surfaces.
