I am researching new countertops for my kitchen. It is very small and needs 26 square feet. I had decided on ES from LG called Viatera which is a quartz product until I saw a company called Granite Transformations. They don't remove the old counter but place a cover of ES over it. Any opinions? Cost is definitely a factor for me.

OK, here's my opinion. Whenever you stack one product over another you create new probems. Height problems. Is tear out really a big issue? What type of countertop do you have now? Their website offers no technical info. The before photos show square edges everywhere, nothing rounded like the old prefab Formica. How would they handle the attached backsplash? Do you have an undermount sink like in the photos? Are you getting a new sink and faucts? Have you seen this product installed? Do you like the way it looks? My point is ask lots of questions. Don't let the tear out issue be the deciding factor.

Thanks, I do have lots of questions on my list already. Their initial quote was less than 1/2 of having the Viatera installed and money is always a factor for me.

I have this counter and LOVE it. So do friends of ours. It is so much over any other granite counter as far as care and durability. AND cheaper due to less labor. Only 1 thing we had to correct and that was filing smoothly the under edge. I had it put on the back splash too, clear up under the cabinets. My kitchen is small so I went with the Perla Blanca ..the shells in it are from Italy. I love it!! Had it a year.
I recently had new counter tops and back splash from Granite Transformations installed in my kitchen, and am very pleased with the result. It is not significantly higher, even though it was installed over my 60-year-old tile counters, but it looks solid. I chose the glass, and am glad I did.
The installation was very carefully done, and the finishing work was fastidious. That could vary, since it is a franchise.
I have used the Granite Transformations on a few projects. Fairly good product for the results. A litte pricey. However I would not rely on this product for an extended period of time. Its fine if your not staying and plan on leaving or if you plan in the future to upgrade the tops when you have more ** But overall its not a bad product.

Hi everyone, I work for Granite Transformations in Tampa Florida. I have had my fair share of people knocking our product because we only made things easier for the home owner with a product that just requires soap and water to clean. there is never the need to seal or treat this product, and your local granite transformations and corprate office will honor the lifetime warranty without questioning it. we have seen incorporated backsplahes and what we do is rotozip or chisel out the the incorprated wrap part on the formica so it will look like a standard backsplash when finish with the installation. If anyone has any questions in regards to the product or how it is installed please email me and i will return your email within a week or less. thanks www.jkruse7715@yahoo.com

I just recently had my kitchen remodeled by Granite transformations. I will tell you my experience. The cost is almost the same as the real thing and you cannot have any choices on the granite counter top corners. The biggest problem I have with them is the pullout drawers. If you have pullout drawers, do not use Granite Transformation. After the Granite transformation is done with the cabinet doors, I have to swing the doors to almost 180 degree to open. That is not functional. I have emailed and called the company several times but all I got is lip services. They would not come out to fix the problems. The customer service is lousy, they would not return calls.
hhaahaha, there is no substitute for the real thing, but there are easier ways to do it....
check this material out, and they will put fancy scrolls in stone on the side profiles of the countertops etc., but I think it is only for commercial right now, I dont know.
