I in the process of painting a wall in my living room that joins a wall going up a stair way. I would like to know how to fade the two colors into each other.

Hi there-

Does it have to be a fade in? I had the same type of problem: two rooms that meet at the stairway landing which opens into both rooms. What I did was paint a diamond shape in the center of the wall above the stairway landing-this stretchs from floor to ceiling. I chose a very light color that compliments the colors of both rooms then painted the inside of the diamond with that color. I then sponge-painted over that in a random pattern using the same colors I had used in the other two rooms. I intend to re-do the stairwell walls and upper hallway in this same pattern and colors-this should tie everything in together well. It looks really nice, I've received many compliments. Even though this doesn't fade in, the transition from one room to the next is quite natural looking.
