my husband & i have stripped rought wood paneling from a wall & have installed new drywall in its place. we are faced with 2" where the textured ceiling paint & the unfinished ceiling meet with the new drywall on the wall. my husband wants to install molding to cover as much of it as he can & i won't like the look. is there another solution?
Are you talking about a gap of untextured ceiling around the edge or an open gap between the top of the sheetrock on the wall and that on the ceiling? If the former, the trend on all of these cable DIY shows has been to remove the textured ceilings. There are several products on the market for patching and repairing different types of textures, but I've never had much luck making it look good, so I would favor scaping off all of the old gunk and going with a smooth ceiling look. Having said that, they make it look easy on the shows and apparently do all of the hard and messy work during the commercials.
If there is a true gap between the wall and ceiling, go ahead and bite the bullet and finish it out with a small strip of sheetrock and tape and mud it out well.
Congratulations on the project. My wife and I gave up on that idea and just painted the paneling in my mom's house. I hope it finishes out well for you!

thanks so much for your input...once i discussed what you suggested, he was willing to elaborate just what we needed to do...men...sorry. this is a great site...will definitely use it again!
There are some very good and experienced people hanging around this board, mostly for the Product of the Day sweepstakes, I imagine, but always willing to give advice about things they know. Best of luck to you.
