Hi,
I am trying to replace my wooden bathroom vanity counter top with a cost effective replacement that is all in one with the sink included. I went to the home stores and nowhere has the size I need 42" x 22"? They told me it was a custom job and I'm concerned about cost. This is an older unit and even though I own it, I will probably sell it in a few years from now. Are there any options other than going custom?

If you want a single solid unit then custom is the only way to go and it will cost.

Other simple alternative is have a countertop made with formica veneer, but you'd need a drop in or undermount sink.

42x22 is not standard however most big box stores carry the 43x22 size. Its only an inch difference and you MIGHT be able to make it work. Is the vanity next to a wall? If so then you might be able to find a filler strip to match the cabinet and move the cabinet over slightly to balance it out. If its not against the wall then it shouldnt matter. Another option would be to find someone who professionally installs cultured marble showers and tubs. They would know how to trim an inch or half inch off the end. The only thing about that is your plumbing will no longer be centered but 1/2 inch is barely noticable. Just food for thought. Good luck
