A contractor just hung wallpaper in my kitchen. He said the paper was not vinyl coated and was very dificult to work with as it tore easily when he was hanging it. I'm would like to know if I can somehow seal the paper with a clear poly (water based) to make it stronger and washable as kitchen paper will most likely get some splashes on it.
Uh, the contractor hanging your wallpaper should NOT have ripped it and should replace it for you! If he's not, then yes, use a waterbased poly to seal the spot where the tear is.
