Have recently updated farmhouse kitchen - 8' ceilings. Has chestnut cabinets and beams, heart pine floors and ceiling, Madiera gold granite countertops, white appliances, so I painted the walls taupe/beige. I have lots of copper displayed, a black wood stove with a brick wall behind it and numerous tablecloths of all colors for our small eating area surrounded on two sides by 4 large windows. Still I feel the lack of color. Any suggestion to keep it neutral or blend other than taupe?

Look to the colors of nature. Incorporate some mid tone greens or tomato red.....or both with a touch of dark plumb.

I agree w/ above- you need some color- and luckily, painting is the cheapest way to do that -- I think you need to stay medium to light with all your dark woodtones - look at a Sherwin-Williams color called Pale Artichoke- it is one of my favorite "neutrals".(It is not in the new fan deck)- You can have a quart mixed-and paint a sample board (poster board) and tack it to wall to see how you like it--
Good Luck --

Thanks alot for the tips. Tomato red may be out (too contemporary for me) but I like the other suggestions. The countertop has a touch of a dk red/plum color running through it which I liked but I was afraid that it was too dark to use on the limited wall space that I have. I hadn't considered green but I will definitely take a look at the Sherwin Williams paint. I think I also need to upgrade the lighting. I have a lot but perhaps not all in the right places.
