Hello everyone! We are looking to buy a house that we love - all except the two sided fireplace in the middle of the kitchen. You can walk all the way around the fireplace but the drywall above the hearth goes to the ceiling - so it is sort of a large rectangular shaped column in the middle of the room with the two sided fireplace in it. Also, the master bedroom gas fireplace is right above it so I am sure they are some how connected. Can I remove this fireplace completely? I do not think it is weight bearing. Could I just re-route the gas for the upstairs fireplace? Removing the fireplace in the kitchen would just really open up the entire space. Any tips on this would be so helpful!
