My living room walls and ceiling are curved at the place where they meet, and the ceiling has beams. The entire room is painted off white, including the beams. I'm trying to add some color to the room, but I think that painting just the walls with an abrupt cut-off at the ceiling-wall curve would be missing the whole point of the curved ceiling. Do you think that painting just the beams would make the ceiling look lower or just plain weird? What are my painting options at this point? Thanks.

If you paint the beams a highly-contrasting color, maybe you won't like what happens, but what if you paint them a slightly darker shade of the wall paint color, just dark enough so you see them separately?
