....ok, stick with me. We looked at a 6 year old home on the market, which had a few unique issues. There was mold all over the wood in the attic. Also, all of the wood floors on the first level were slightly bowed, with lots of very subtle hills and valleys (barely visible). This was from the previous owners "home business," which was growing marijuana in the basement. All of the heat lamps and watered soil caused a rainforest-like condition in the basement, which caused the bowing and mold. Any ideas on what damage might lie beneath the floors,as well as what would have to be done to level them off??

You are only seeing what is on the surface of this house. I can assure you that you have mold behind all or most of the exterior walls as well.
Before you go any further with the purchase, get a professional mold evauluation done. Not one by a home inspector but one from a company that only does testing and evaluations of this type. They need to do wall checks and air samples to determine how far this mold as gone.
We recently did a home in NJ that had a ruptured water heater with a failed sump pump. There was over a foot of water in the basement for about a month. We ended up removing almost the entire first floor and part of the 2nd floor to clean up the damage. Like Richard said, Find another home, unless your prepared to spend a lot of money.
