I am painting the interior of my home. My ceilings are low and I'd like to create an image of them being higher with the paint colors or some type of technique. Can anyone help with this?

I was wondering if you got an answer as to how to make low ceilings look higher with paint? I am getting ready to paint a hallway and would like for it to look higher.

I know striped wallpaper can make a room look higher. so i assume, if you were to paint stripes, you would get the same effect.

One way to do this- if you do not have crown molding- is to paint the ceiling using your wall color or a lighter shade of the wall color -- It also gives a "softer" feel- as there is no line to stop your eye. No, it does not reduce light in the room (unless paint is very dark) - If you have crown molding, painting the molding and ceiling the same color will do the same -- Good luck ---

I painted my ceilings the same colors as the walls. A very soft yellow from sherwin williams. It looks awesome and most of the time as the light changes the ceiling will look a slightly different shade. You can go a shade lighter for the ceiling. If you want to paint the ceiling and they are low the color you choose is very important. Do not go dark. Keep it light and airy.

Paint ceilings in a lighter color and a higher sheen than walls. Go with a high or semi gloss sheen.

Some others have already replied correctly. Taking the wall color onto the ceiling and using great lighting will make any room look taller and larger. When a ceiling is white the eye absorbs the color on the wall and stops at the wall/ceiling joint. When the ceiling is painted, the eye continues up and around the room. The eye should rest on furniture and accents, not paint colors and ceilings. My master bathroom is dark brown with the same brown on the ceiling. I have beautiful reflective crystal and amber chandeliers. The room is so dramatic and appears to be so much larger. It's all about illusions. Because there is so much to look at in the room, the brain is fooled into believing the roomis large. When it is beige, beige and more beige, you look at one area and you have seen the entire room, making it feel small and BORING!!!
