My husband and I just bought a 1950's Cape Cod house. I tore up the old carpeting and there is hardwood floors underneath. I would like to refinish them, but I have no idea how to do this. Could you give me step-bystep instructions? Thanks for any help.
GO rent a sander sand floors wipe floors with paint thinner after sweeping up dust I use a oil base urethane you need 3 coats of this on floors between every coat lightly sand down whip with thinner let dry repeat the last coat dont sand down Enjoy your floors I cant understand why people cover these wood floors they do make throw rugs you have to wait 72 hours before butting furniture back and 7 days before rugs Good Luck
Wow, that was a LONG sentence on that first reply.
The advice, if you can decipher it, looks good. It all starts with renting the big upright push sander. Then, you really another smaller rotary sander for any small areas and corners. Also, if there's any VERY small areas, manual scraping is needed. yuk.
