Greetings everyone, and thank you for your interest in helping me find the best way to do this. What i have is a drop ceiling. The ceiling sections are held up by metal trim that is hanging from the previouss ceiling by wire.... I have painted the ceiling sections green. I now WANT TO and NEED TO cover up this metal trim that supports the ceiling sectiions, with WOOD trim that i have gone and purchase the other day. The thing is i dont know how to attach this wood trim that i have, to this metal support trim of the drop ceiling. This metal drop ceiling support trim is painted white. How can i do this that will hold the wood trim on to this painted metal support trim of the drop ceiling? I want to do this project without having to take the whole drop ceiling down.I can pull out all the ceiling sections leaving just the painted metal support trim hanging up there by its wires. Now how can i and what it the best way to attach this wood trim to the painted metal supports hanginng up there that will make me feel confident that the wood trim will not fall down on us at any givin time. Moreless where i will feel like i am gaurrented that the wood trim will not seperate from the metal supports trim for the drop ceiling and fall down on me at any givin time. I need this wood trim to attach to this painted metal support trim for the drop ceiling permanatly. Having to take down this metal support that hangs up there for the ceiling sections of the drop ceiling would not be worht the time and effort of doing. That would mean that i would be taking down the whole kitchen drop ceiling. This i dont want to do. I just want to attach this wood trim to the metal supprots for the drop ceiling with out having to take it down. Please if anyone has the answer for me i would sure be appreciative for the answer i am looking for. Respectfully luckystarpugz2

Have you thought about maybe purchasing the trim that is not make out of wood but looks like wood? It is a foam material and can be easily glued to the metal frame if you use F13 construction glue. This is a glue that will not melt the form board trim. This trim is easily cut with a sharp knife in some cases. Looks like wood but much less trouble. Available at Lowes.
thank you for answering. No i did not think about that. But i do know what you are speaking about, and i am after a differant look then that. I am wanting the accual wood. Doing it this why they is a look of some meat to the wood if you know what i am talking about. It is just a much better look. Would the F13 glue work for what i want to do? Or any other idea's?

Is there any other way! I dont want to have any screws showing, nor do i want to phil the screw holes and sand, or stain. I am doing this as a natural wood look. I have already purchase the wood and i want to use this trim that i have because there will be some accual meat to the trim if you know what i mean.
Well then, how big is the piece of wood? I have a strict rule in my practice, which is "Never Trust Glue". Sooner or later, you'll be watching a movie and you will have a surprise in your lap. I can invent all kinds of ways to clip the wood to the ceiling grid, but the clips would have to be designed and manufactured, and the wood would have to be routed in back to accept the clips. If we were doing an office interior for a huge corporation, this might be an alternative. For a residence, it makes little sense.
You might try glue plus a minimum number of screws in each piece, just in case the glue fails. Aside from that, I'm afraid there is no magic available.

Since you are talking trim at a suspended ceiling, I have to assume you are talking crown moulding. In hanging miles of the stuff, our predominant attach is to the walls, not the ceiling--in standard construction situation, a few nails to the ceiling joists are definitely shot, but there are many situations where they are not the primary fastener.
A suspended ceiling is flexible always, and moves along with any house movement. Why not attach your crown to the wall instead? I am also assuming as your ceiling is a suspension one, there is no tray or rake to leave the hated deep shadow line. Sight unseen, this would be my immediate solution/reaction to a homeowner calling us with this ?

Greetings. I have the crown molding figured out. Acrossed the kitchen ceiling every two feet are metal runners that are hung by wire too support the ceiling tiles. Then in the other direction of the kitchen ceiling are more metal runners spaced out at 4 feet and hung by wire to support the ceiling tiles. What i am wanting to do is attach this wood trim to these metal runners, so instead of having these ugly metal runnders showing, i will have some nice wooden runners showing. We are painting the ceiling tiles a green color and with the wooden trim it should look realy nice. I just have to find the best way to attach this wood trim to the metal runners. I dont realy want ugly metal screws showing in this nice wood trim that we have. Do you have any good idea's for how we can attach this wooden trim??
