I work with my father restoring houses and selling them for profit. If he can't profit right off the bat then he keeps the houses and will rent them. We have done 3 houses so far in our 8 months working. This last house has been the first one where we had to remove ceramic tile from the floor. It was mortared directly onto the concrete floor. It took about 3 hours to knock up a 12x7 area in the kitchen which to me is a lot of time. I did this with a DeWalt D25103K rotary hammer. I was wondering if there was another tool designed especially for this job. I was also wondering if I should just go ahead and get the DeWalt D25940K demo rotary hammer. It is extremely beefy and I was wondering if that would be overkill. Remember though that this is probably the first of many many tile floors I will be ripping up.

If you do enough tear outs you will be wanting that beefy machine. Anything to make the job go quicker. There is a pnuematic long handle chipping pole made by Edco, if you have a compressor.

Edco is one of several makers out there. Dont know the model #, do a search on them for model and distributors. Also similar types of pnuematic scrapers at www.contractorsdirect.com or www.tiletools.com
