The utility room in my basement where the furnace is located gets very hot. I have sealed all the joints in the heat ducts, but it still gets very hot. Should there be a vent in the cold air return coming directly in to the furnace to suck this heat out and distribute it? If not, what would be the best way to re-use this heat?

Just wanted to add that my furnace and water heater are all electric so there would be no backdraft to worry about.
