in regards to my gas meter which i've discussed in another thread. the gas meter cubic feed used has 4 numbers that look like a trip meter in a car and two odometer dials that read quarter foot and one foot. with all the gas appliances in the house dormant the quarter foot dial is moving ever so slowly. i don't know how i could be using gas when nothing is on. is it possible i have a slow leak somewhere and it's so small that it's undetectable by the rotten egg smell they put in it? i'm really stumped here as my gas usage between 6:30pm last night and the same time today reads 9 cubic feet yet the gas wasn't used all that much today. thanks.

Do you have any appliances with a pilot? Stove? Fireplace? Water heater? If not, then its possible you might have a tiny leak somewhere.

for gas i have a dryer, hot water heater, oven and furnace. once i did some research i now feel stupid. i'm burning approximately 9 cubic feet per day. i didn't realize cubic feet is really measured x100 so that burn rate only comes to between $5 and $10 a month. well within normal guidelines. on a similar note what's perplexing to me is between yesterday at 6:30pm and today i used 8 (x100) or 800 cubic feet of gas. the furnace has been on maybe a couple of times today but not for long and we used the oven for 30 minutes and ran the dishwasher once and had 2 showers. 800 cubic feet comes to about $12 meaning if i extrapolated this out a month it would be $360!

does using 8 CCF in a day with little action by the boiler seem high to anyone?
