Does HVAC ceiling vent placement matter? Should they be placed in front of the windows? Right now the holes are cut in the ceilings about 1' off the inside walls. Since I have usually seen them in front of windows, I want to be sure we don't go forward with a bad idea. We live in Alabama.
Thank you!

AC vents idealy should be placed away from window glass, or at least not blowing on to the glass itself. The cold air will super cool the surface of the windows and cause them to condensate on the outside when the humidity is high. Which in your part of the country is pretty much all the time. You should consider placing these vents in corners of the room. With a return vent on the other corner if your using this type of return system. Those vent systems you see over windows is idealy used with heat systems as the idea is to blow warm air over the surfaces that loose the most heat. But in your case your using this for AC only.
