One of a few reasons. Either the gas pressure is to low. The ignitor is in the wrong spot. The electronic device that controls the ignitor is not working properly. All of which require a professional to evaluate this un-safe condition.
I suggest that you do not "Blow" on the burners to get them to work. A flash back could ruin your day fast.
Get the local gas supplier out there. In most cases they will not charge you for an adjustment if needed. But do it right away. If the gas is turning on and not lighting. Your looking to blow up your furnace if not your home. Do it right away.
