Geo thermal systems are suddenly being installed by the hundreds, if not thousands, here on Long Island, NY according to every well driller I have spoken to lately.

I'd like to see some conversation about them on this forum, especially since the stimulus package just removed the tax credit cap for them and now allows a 30% tax credit - that's money directly off whatever taxes you owe!

Every conventional heating contractor I have spoken with has tried to discourage me from putting one in, however I am learning that the reason is that most do not have the expertise to size and engineer a properly functioning system, which makes sense to me. It is new technology to many of them and they are concerned about it.

The well drillers have put me in contact with engineers who do design the systems all the time and I am finally about to get estimates.
