OUr sump pump in our 200 year old basement sued to pump out water, burnt out. The smell is really bad all over the house. Any sugesstions would be great

First get the pump out of the house and ventilate to remove the temporary smell. At least it worked getting rid of the water.

If you feel you have a large demand for pumping, get the best pump you can find for your application and make sure you have a check valve immediately above the pump to eliminate excess cycling and hours of worthless pump time.
