I finally figured out that my main water problem in the basement is (duh) the door! It's an exterior access sloped kind that leads to a stair down. When we get a lot of rain, the door leaks, water runs down the stairs and I get water on the basement floor. I need either a double or accordion door there; a single door isn't practical. The current door is plywood, built by the previous homeowner who was, well, let's just say less than completely skilled as a carpenter. It's c&@p. I'm looking at totally rebuilding or getting a premanufactured door. I'm in CA where basements aren't common, so finding a supplier has been tricky. I tried the Bilco people but they were not fully helpful. If their product is worth it I'll try again, but I'd like any options you guys can suggest.
