My latest framing corrections includes this gem: 1- 1/2" Dry Pack under shear walls requires special inspection.

I can't find anyone who has heard of this on a SFD
remodel plan.
Some suggest "wet setting" of mudsills B4 foundation sets up. Seems like an unneccesarry hassle to me. My engineer didn't call for this. Why is the BO bringing it up other than another fee they can charge?
My shear walls are 2x6 Trd. Plates & 2x6 studs (double where needed) Project doesn't call for using 3x material or any other special stuff.
Any guesses? (Why don't I just ask? You wonder,....typically emails & phone calls go ignored days at a time in this town)

Ask the building official to cite chapter and verse of the building code which requires what he is asking, in writing. By that I mean, ask him in writing, and ask for a response in writing. Then appear at the door fo your engineer's office if he won't return phone calls, with written request and response in hand, and ask for his opinion in writing.

I apologize, but we easterners do not have to design for seismic events, so we are unfamiliar with the details of the issue. However, the above procedure works in all regions. YOUR design professional owes you an opinion, and support, or else he or she owes you a correction. Demand it.
