I doubt that your tiles have anything to do with the brickwork. Without any real knowledge about your house, my first shot in the dark would be that your floors weren't stiff enough to keep the tiles from cracking, but to really know that, I'd have to know if you have a basement or crawl space, and then the spans of your floor joists, their spacing, and the species and grade of lumber, and even then some would say that I'm not qualified to do the calculations...heheheh. Anyway, tiles are rigid, but laminate flooring is flexible, so if my wild guess is right, the laminate shouldn't give you any trouble.

I agree with Richard, the floor is more likely the culprut. Do you remember what they (you) put down for underlayment before the tile? As for reassurance, I've seen laminate flooring do fine over some pretty wavy floors.
