ConfusedWe just purchased a new home four years young. Three days after moving in we had a water leak in the Kitchen which flooded most of the flooring (rugs). Serve Pro, came in ASAP and riped every thing out and ran the fans all night, measured for dryness and all is good. I really wanted tile in the first place, so I replaced the rugs (which we damaged) with Tile.
The house was Bricked on in the front, after we moved in within a year, we had the house total Bricked. Anyway, it's been over 2yrs, and the cracks are so bad that we decided to get rid of them and install Prego, laminate flooring. My question is, will the Laminate flooring take and be fine or will it crack as well. Some people stated that the Tile cracking is due to the Brick work settleing. Others say it must be a problem with the foundation. The Laminte wood flooring will run over three grand. So can someone reasure me that it will be fine.
Any imput or/and guideing with this problem is truely appreciated. Worried sick over this flooring issue.

I doubt that your tiles have anything to do with the brickwork. Without any real knowledge about your house, my first shot in the dark would be that your floors weren't stiff enough to keep the tiles from cracking, but to really know that, I'd have to know if you have a basement or crawl space, and then the spans of your floor joists, their spacing, and the species and grade of lumber, and even then some would say that I'm not qualified to do the calculations...heheheh.

Anyway, tiles are rigid, but laminate flooring is flexible, so if my wild guess is right, the laminate shouldn't give you any trouble.

I agree with Richard, the floor is more likely the culprut. Do you remember what they (you) put down for underlayment before the tile? As for reassurance, I've seen laminate flooring do fine over some pretty wavy floors.
