We had a mason pour a concrete slab over an exisiting slab and add an additional 6 feet to give us six feet of exterior 'patio'. We started building a room but now have a problem - the rain water flows towards the pressure treated sill plate - even though we have caulked - it still runs into what we had hoped to be our new addition. Water sits along the exterior wall. We have not been able to get him to return our calls. What can we do to fix the problem?
Take pictures of the area after it rains or video it. Next, the only sure way to solve this problem is to re-pour the slab or pour over the new slab, the next best thing would be to add concrete to the low areas and screed and finish it feathering it into the existing slab. You could also use leveling compound but be for warned it will be incredibly difficult to level the floor and then pitch the floor with leveling compound. Which ever direction you go, file a suit against the mason to recover your additional expenses and any fees involved. If he's licensed, your state may also have a fund available to you that you can recover these expenses from and then the state will in turn recover them from him.
