Been looking at this forum, and have learned a little, but not the important question of how to find a good contractor. Got the interior french drain spiels, one with exterior new gutters, other exterior french drain. One would add interal insulation and claims that will stop seepage. We know there are stairstep cracks in the mortar that were covered internal by a handyman.

Advice or recommendations for a good contractor would be appreciated.

Ann,

problem in this trade is that MANY have not learned/been trained/gained knowledge `n expertise from those who really do have expertise through decades of hands-on work, doing the job.

many have been or are getting this inside-only training approach, they are not receiving the OVERALL package. they can`t learn whats needed if they`re trained with basically one approach, one system, one way to look at things. many are being...?schooled?...by owners/companies who don`t have the complete package, if ya know what i mean Big Grin and/or,don`t care `cos in the end to some is simply whats best for THEM, how to make the most money, just my opinion believe it or not, shared by some other honest/experienced folks.

maybe try calling some local Builders Supply companies, around here, one is Sabistons Builders Supply. These companies deal with contractors on a daily basis. We just got back from Clearfield Pennsylvania, waterproofed a stone foundation for a guy who could NOT find a contractor to do the work Outside and, at a reasonable price.
