Two months ago I moved into a new house. It is one story. The concrete around the 'slab' is flaking off, large pieces are have fallen off, there are gouges and it looks ugly. My garage floor is full of large gouges, actual cut curved lines which are almost through to the soil and areas where cement has come off because they put the cement over refuse such as leaves or bits of refuse. The garage floor is absolutely ugly with all the scratches and gouges .Just outside the garage doors there are multiple holes over an inch in diameter and these are deep into the soil below. The driveway itself has multiple holes down to the soil and there are scratches and stains and gouges. The small walkway to the front porch is the same as is the patio in the back of the house. There is a lot of rocks imbeded in the concrete and sand flakes all over.I have looked to see the proper mix of concrete with no success. The contractor who did it for the builder said there is nothing wrong and went away mad. I am a widow on social security and I am unable to pay to have it done correctly but it looks terrible. Please help me . By the way, I measured the depth of the concrete through the holes in the drdiveway and it is less than 1/8th inch thick.
Either the concrete mix was defective or the application was defective or the installation was done during less than optimal conditions.
The bottom line is this concrete needs to be replaced by the builder at his own expense and you need to engage the services of a real estate attorney to make he does.
This should be warranted item under your state's consumer laws and an easy one to prosecute.
If you cannot afford a provate attorney, file a complaint with your state Attorney General's office who will fight on your behalf for free.
Thank you for your advice. The holes are now getting bigger and filling with water. I am taking your advice and writing to the Attorney General. See what happens.
