We installed interior drain tile that has done nothing to alleviate problems we had with water coming in through a wall. Also, now we have mold growing behind the dimple board at the base of the wall where the drain tile is whre we never had an issue before. Wish we had read these boards first so we never would have done the drain tile. But now that we have, what should we ask of the company in terms of a fix?

Well, you'll be asking them to do what they probably don't know how to do, unless they, too, have read and understood the posts in this forum.

I fear that now you will discover that their guarantee didn't quite say what you thought it said, and that they have more than likely excluded any of the real causes of your issues from the scope of their work and their guarantee. That is, IF they return your phone calls.

I suggest documenting everything, do business from this point on ONLY in writing, with everything sent certified return receipt, and take photographs of the problem areas on a regular basis. You will more than likely end up in litigation, possibly against a company that just happened to go out of business. I hate hearing these stories. People wonder why I and others spend so much of our time here when there are a million things we should be doing, but this is why...to hopefully keep people from getting themselves into these situations. I am sorry you are there.

What the company did wrong was not to discover the cause of your basement moisture problems. They applied a one-size-fits-all "solution" which was not a solution at all. It was at best a band-aid, and at worst, a complete waste of effort and money. Moisture doesn't grow in basements...it comes from somewhere. The first course of action is ALWAYS to discover where, and THEN select the best way to remedy the problem.

Good luck in your efforts; I hope it works out well, but I'm afraid I know the odds.
