Was just reading your advice after looking for answers to what's best to use in rod holes. I was always told to use hydraulic cement. I talked to a guy that told me to use a polyurethane caulk/sealant because the cement isn't waterproof. I got some, but I decided to research before using and ran across you. Any thoughts? Something about the caulk just didn't seem as "permanent" as cement would be. I used #7 tapered corks, at least 2 or three per hole. I only had one active leak, but had some discoloration on some of the others. So I just went thru and did them all on this section while the drywall was torn out. By the way do songs just always pop into your head when triggered by a word or thought? That happens to me all the time. I would be glad to hear I'm not the only "nut" (as some people call me) this happens to.

rw,

sure, hydraulic cement is the best. just make certain you push & pack the Hy cement into each hole or 'fill' the entire hole.

nothing wrong with a combination of correct size corks and hydraulic cement either, must work ` be the best, havent had nary a problem in 27+ years.and good move on doing all rod holes, wish more people would do that! Oh, and imo, some folks like the caulk cuz its easier `n faster, just my opinion.

yes! certain words/phrases trigger this old mans music mind, lolol, your not the only 'nut'! gl
