Managing hydrostatic pressure is an improtant aspect of controlling water at the foundation of a house. It's not the waterproofing that manages the hydrostatic pressure it's the drainage mat. The sytem shown in this video is just one manufacturer's version of the drainage mat. There are other systems as good as the one shown here.

In all waterproofing systems it's impotant that the site is drained properly to provide adequate drainage away from the structure.

In general I think this video on basement water proofing was OK. One error in the presentation that sticks out is the incorrect presentation of hydrostatic pressure as a uniform pressure on the basement wall as represented by a uniform width group of arrows in the video. Hydrostatic pressure is not uniform, but it a triangular distribution...that is it increases with depth starting at zero at the ground surface and increasing linearily with depth. Arrows on the wall should be increasing wider on the wall with depth to illustrate this increasing pressure on the wall.

That's a good point. I don't think it necessarily detracts from, or invalidates, the video... but it's a legitimate issue.
