First a little background: We have been undergoing a remodel on our home that sits on a slab. The new additions were framed up and use joists connecting to the slab. Turns out the floors do not meet up anywhere from 1/4 to almost 3/4 inch off (lower). Well since I told the contractor that I was going to put a floating floor (1/2 inch engineered) down he said the drops to the new floor was "not my problem, it's whoever is installing the flooring". He told me "not my problem" on two occasions. I told the site manager they were off everytime he came to the site. Talked with flooring companies and installers who said that anything really off more than 1/8th is the builders issue.
Here's my dilemma: I have a long hallway that part of is addition with a bath off of it that I've already tiled and finished. The flooring difference is almost 3/4" in the hallway. I have attempted to patch the gaps and use leveler to ease the drop (eased about 6 ft) Well I installed about half the flooring last night and there is a definite problem. Bounce in two spots where the flooring is off the subfloor - of course right at the transition going across the hallway right in front of the bath.
Help!! What can/should I do? I plan on calling the contractor this morning and demanding a meet to show him this but I have a strong suspicion I'll get the "not my problem" thing again. Sorry for the long post.
