Hi...living room in slate antique blue w/ white trim. The fireplace mantel...I was thinking of adding some color in the form of taupe and wheat colors (in same tone as blue). The framing is pretty standard w/fluted front face and top piece...just slightly built up. Any idea on how it will look besided me going to the trouble?

Thanks

Guess I just think classic is longer, better-looking way to go, but, I can't picture finishing the mantel other than same white as trim. Unless you were to take the time to stain the wood & poly over that.

I just can't picture the taupe & wheat colors you are talking about. I do think staining it would be a good-looking, classic look that is not seen real often now-a-days. Probably because of varied wood quality & more labor intensive than just paint.
