I'm repainting my enclosed, heated sun porch. Trouble is, my husky/shephard dog likes to put her front paws on the windowsills when she barks at the cats and whoever else happens to be walking by. Now they're not only scratched, but there are grooves dug into the wood from her nails. What can I put on the sills to keep my new paint job intact?

Could you maybe make a plexy glass "topper" for it and screw it to the sill??
