I would really like to view the helpful videos, but after the message that the "video will begin after this message from our sponsor", nothing happens. The right-hand window says that the advertisement is loading, but it doesn't. I am running Windows XP and am connected to the Internet by a cable modem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I agree with cwilliams5. I also am having continued problems with the videos. The intro works. Then the message advises the video will start in 30 seconds. NOTHING happens.

thanks

Click on the pause button twice. That will start the video. There are still interuptions(pauses) during the segment but you will get to view the video.

I've never gotten the videos to play either. I have satellite broadband and it works fine with other sites' streaming video, but not HGTV. Very disappointing...

Me too! The videos don't load. Sometimes the pause button is not grayed out and I can click it, then click resume, and it'll start loading. But then, it will pause about every six seconds to re-buffer, which takes 20 seconds, then play six more seconds, and so on. I am on satellite internet. This problem didn't exist during the few weeks I was on a wireless ISP. I really want to watch the videos! Maybe a word to the sponsors will help get someone's attention . . . and I might drop a line to the higher-ups at Scripps. This has been going on for years. I have posted about the problem prior to now, in the "Best Practices" topic. I received a response from the webmaster a time or two, but don't ever hear back any more.

I can get the videos to work by shutting off the pop-up blocker. The trouble is they take forever to load on my dial-up connection. I get a second or two of video and then the computer sits there loading for another few seconds of video. It would be nice it after all that you could simply hit play and then get the full video, but with Macromedia the reloading process begins all over again. Nice videos, terrible format (MAcromedia). I wish HGTVPro would go with something that is more user friendly, like windows media or mpg. Embed the commercials in the file, so they stilol get to advertise and I get to really see the video the way it is meant to be played. Otherwise it simply is not worth the time it takes to see the video played in 2 second spurts.

ATTN: Pro Admin ---
Why not change your format for the Best Practices videos to Windows Media Player? If you did this, then we could play the videos! It's simple.

Hooray!!! Recently your Best Practices videos went to a different format (Windows Media Player, maybe?) and now they play just fine. I'm glad that you made this change. Now more people can watch them. Your advertisers must be very happy, too.

Hi

I am unable to view any before/after videos - I have tried the suggestions in this board, but nothing works.

The screen just goes black after clicking play.

any thoughts?
