We'd like to hear your stories about communication "challenges" you've had with clients. What was the situation? How did you resolve it? What was the final outcome?
If your story is one of our favorites, we'll post it on the main website!
I actually talked about this on another board a while back, but my biggest issue was with a guy who kept wanting to make all sorts of changes in the details of the house. One day, he wanted concrete countertops. Then he'd see something on TV and want quartz. Then he'd change his mind about the carpet. Then the stair rails. Then the door style (single versus double door DOES make a difference).
Sadly, this one ended with me "firing" the customer before we got too far along. I was spending about 75% of my time trying to deal with his changes and trying to explain why they were going to a) be more expensive and b) push the completion date out.
Maybe I was wrong to refer this guy to my competition, but somehow I don't feel all that bad about it.
I install fireplaces and cultured stone and brick. It never fails, I always receive a call about December 22 or 23rd that a client would like their fireplace installed and finished that day because they are having people over for Christmas. Never mind that I have jobs scheduled months in advance and I don't have a clear day on my calendar until February!
